Farming Australia The backbone of the nation - rockyone
This was an old, typical country service station that modern progress had passed by. Located on a prime position, a busy highway passing the front and another highway along one side joining with the other at a tee junction. When a decision was made to demolish and rebuild the business, the huge underground fuel tanks which had served us for so long, were deemed to have created a problem for the environment, so all contaminated material must be removed and replaced. In this photo, the work is well under way, but still a long way to go. This service station was completely closed for quite a long period, but the popularity of the brand new and expanded premises no doubt, warranted the courageous decision which was made.
