As I have photographed most of Talafa Road from both ends, it seemed only fitting that I should cover the end which is closest to Emerald making it the most used. All the surface is now sealed to a good width so two vehicles can pass safely to just past # 860 making it 8.6 kms from the highway. Our memories (and photos) go back to when we moved out there eighteen years ago, when it was a bumpy dirt road all the way. How interesting to observe, as the years tick over, the changes in life style, vehicles, communications, council improvements to the road, acreage blocks being sub-dived, school bus vehicle improvements, satellite TV, power extensions and private water pipeline upgrades. Prices of all of these rural and semi rural blocks has jumped as demand follows the area population increases related mostly to mines being expanded or start ups.
